How To Get Rid Of Acne Scars

Let’s face reality; if you’ve experienced any form of acne, you know that you don’t like it. Nobody likes to wake up in the morning, walk to the bathroom and look in the mirror only to see a red face full of pimples and acne scars. Fortunately, there are effective acne solutions and other treatment options like laser treatment to remove acne and scarring.

Chances are high that if you’ve experienced severe acne, you’ve also experienced plenty of acne scarring. I have outlined some methods below that teach how to get rid of acne scars. You shouldn’t settle for living with facial scarring for the rest of your life as a result of bad hormonal acne throughout your teenage years.

Though I am trying to teach you how to get rid of acne scars, it is important to understand that acne scars are not always easy to deal with. In fact, many treatment options will be ineffective. It’s just a matter of trying new things to get rid of your acne scar or ugly looking scarring.

How to Get Rid of an Acne Scar Naturally

Let’s discuss some natural options that may help you get rid of acne scars. It has been said that rubbing substances like the juice from cucumbers, vitamin E, and Aloe have all been considered helpful in skin health and restoration from scarring. More specifically, cucumber juice has been established as a great option for removing skin toxins. Aloe has been known to keep your complexion smooth and also been established as helpful in cases of skin recovery. Vitamin E has also been discussed as being good for your skin due to the fact that speeds skin recovery. All of these natural methods are good to keep in mind.

How to get rid of acne scars fast?

Typically, more effective acne scar treatment options are utilized. Laser treatment for acne is known to completely remove all signs of skin scarring if done properly. After just three laser treatment sessions, it has been estimated that eighty-five percent of patients experience significant improvement. The downside to laser treatment is the fact that it is fairly expensive. In my opinion, if you had some extra money and wanted your acne scars removed – this would be your best option. However, keep in mind other techniques and listen to your dermatologist. Dermatologists are usually up-to-date on the latest new acne treatment options.

Microdermabrasion is also a method used by dermatologists that involves removing portions of the skin. It has been established as an effective technique to get rid of acne scars in some individuals. However, the overall success rate from using this technique is relatively low. To make significant progress in clearing your skin of acne scars, more potent treatments need to be utilized.

Dermal fillers – which involve injecting acid fillers such as: Cosmoderm or Perlane – have also been used to remove acne scarring. Unfortunately, the injections break-down over time and many repeat treatment injections are needed. Definitely not a treatment I recommend if you want a quick recovery. Besides, I don’t think anybody wants to inject something into their face!

Acne scar creams have also been developed to get rid of acne scarring. There are many quality creams that improve complexion through the release of alpha hydroxy acids and other chemicals like Retin-A. Though creams are moderately effective at helping get rid of acne scars fast, they require a strict application routine. You cannot slack off for a week on the application of your cream. You must maintain a daily routine.

"Punch techniques" are another option for getting rid of your acne scars. These target removing all tissue harboring the acne scar. There are two main types of punch techniques, namely:

  1. Punch Elevation – involving a biopsy tool removing any acne scarring by cutting and reattaching all scar tissue. This doesn’t sound helpful, but it actually lifts the scar which causes skin complexion to improve.
  2. Punch Excision – punch excision involves using a biopsy tool cutting out the scar and the surrounding edges. The skin is then patched together and it manages to heal over the period of a few weeks. Punch excision can also be combined with skin grafting techniques in other cases.

One method of treatment that I forgot to mention is the use of what are called “chemical peels.” Chemical peels are place on the skin for a period of time with the primary goal of dissolving scar-tissue cells. When scar-tissue cells dissolve, new cells are usually able to grow in their place. Though not always effective, chemical peels may work great for some individuals. After treatment, your doctor may provide you with acne lotion or a form of acne gel to help you recover quickly.

Most quality dermatologists will know how to get rid of acne scars. They will know what treatment to recommend for you personally, depending on the severity of your acne.
