Acne Lotion Background Information

Acne lotion is another effective way to treat facial acne, back acne, and acne in other places on your body. Some common brand names of acne lotions include: Acne Lotion 10, Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Daily Moisturizing Lotion, Liquimat Light, Postacne, and Liquimat Medium. All of these have been established as effective acne solutions.

All of what are termed “acne lotions” work by cleansing the skin and clearing the face of dirt and oils. Each acne lotion contains at least one specific chemical that is able to target all pimples. After use of acne lotion, your face feels refreshed and much better than before. Acne lotion is similar to acne gel or other products used in an acne facial; in terms of focusing and targeting problematic acne. However, acne gel seems to be more effective than acne lotion in the treatment of more severe acne cases.

Acne Lotions – How do they look?

Most acne lotions blend in great with your skin and are colored perfectly. Nobody can really tell that you are using the acne lotion. For girls and women, there are a variety of acne lotions available that actually look just like make-up, yet are busy fighting your acne. This is great because the female population is able to look good, while fighting their acne.

Most acne lotions are readily available over the counter. This is great because you can quick order some off of the internet or head to the store and pick some up without having to make a dermatologist appointment. If you are already seeing a skin doctor, be sure to ask him or her what they think about adding lotion to your acne fighting arsenal. It is important to ask about acne lotions before using them because they may interact with your current acne fighting plan of action.

Anti-Acne Lotion – Ask a Skin Care Specialist About It

If you decide to use anti-acne lotion without asking a skin-care specialist, realize that there may be side-effects. Acne lotion is not effective in everybody and is usually not the treatment of choice for more severe forms of acne vulgaris. Some people may develop allergic reactions to anti-acne lotion – so it is important to read the ingredients and instructions carefully after your purchase.

Though anti-acne lotion is not ingested in your stomach, you still may develop allergies to the active ingredients in acne lotion. It is important to keep in mind that there are preservatives in most of these facial lotions and that topical acne lotion can cause harm to some individuals. By harm, I’m referring to an allergic reaction as experienced by: increased facial redness, itchy skin, burning skin, and/or increased acne.

"Acne Scars" Lotion – It Can Help Reduce Facial Scarring

The great thing about acne lotion is that it can also be used to help get rid of acne scarring. Facial scarring does not look good on anybody, but it can be reduced and your looks can be fixed up by using acne scars lotion. This type of lotion helps your face heal in areas of scars and helps clear your face of dead skin cells.

Body Acne Lotion

Not only is acne lotion effective on your face, but it can be used on other parts of your body like your back, shoulders, and chest area. Make sure to read the application instructions carefully though, because some body acne lotion should not be applied to your face. Similarly, some facial acne lotions are not as effective on other areas of the body. Keep this in mind if you are not seeing great results from applying anti-acne facial lotion to other parts of your body.

Acne Lotion: How to Use It / Precautions

It is usually recommended that individuals under age 10 stay away from the use of acne lotion. It is clearly meant to be used for teenage and adult acne treatment. As in any group of people, there can be side-effects. It just so happens that children are too vulnerable of a population to be using most types of acne lotions.

With that said, elderly and old adults may not experience as much success with acne lotions due to the fact that most anti-acne lotions have not been studied in this population. They may be effective, but the targeted use is aimed at teens to middle-aged individuals. Side-effects may be different and dependent upon age. Also, people with hormonal acne typically do not get as much benefit from acne lotion as others. It is important for those individuals to keep in mind seeking a dermatologist and an oral medication to target the etiology of their acne.

Usually, other skin care products are not used as a co-treatment with acne lotion. It’s either use acne lotion or use something else. Why? Because chemicals interact with each other from different products. This may end up making your skin and overall complexion far worse than it was previously. If you are taking an oral medication for your acne, try to figure out which is the more effective treatment option. For most people with mild acne, this anti-acne lotion does a great job with treatment. For most severe acne cases, acne lotion is usually not very effective.

To use anti-acne lotion, be sure to wash your face gently and then gently pat each area dry with a clean washcloth. It is a good idea to keep the acne lotion away from your lips and nose due to the fact that most contain chemicals. Follow the designated instructions on your label and use common sense. If you have any further questions, be sure to seek out a doctor.
